For grades 5-6: Exploration invites discovery...get closer than you've ever been to animals, making many new friends along the way. This 5 night journey includes face to face animal encounters, world-class roller coasters, and a sunrise safari among giraffe and zebra. Encounter lorikeets and giant tortoises and explore Edge of Africa in a team scavenger hunt. Come and have fun among animals and friends at Busch Gardens and Adventure Island!

This camp begins at 12:00 p.m. the first day and ends promptly at 9:00 a.m. on the last day of camp. Housing is primarily at our on-site dormitory, Mzinga Lodge, and includes a night at Uzingizi Hideaway, a second on-site sleeping facility, for an overnight animal experience. This fully chaperoned resident camp includes:

Go behind the scenes to clean and prepare habitats, distribute diets, observe animal behavior training, and engage in up-close animal encounters. Experience Adventure Island water park and world-class rides at Busch Gardens. Campers looking for an extended zoo husbandry camp should also enroll in ZOO CAREERS.

Come prepared for a real-life, hands-on adventure at a world-class zoological facility. Accompany professional zookeepers and experience firsthand what it takes to care for animals. Then put that knowledge to work: clean-up and prepare animal habitats, make and distribute diets, plus observe behavioral training and animal care procedures each morning. At camp we will introduce you to the challenges of caring for and learning about animals such as crocodilians, snakes, tortoises, lions, hyenas, tigers, hippos, lowland gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, rhinos, giraffe, zebra, and many more. Investigate safety protocols and discover the amount of commitment and teamwork needed to operate a zoo.

Prepare diets for gorillas, chimpanzees and other species in the zoo kitchen

Get a first-hand look at veterinary science in a zoo hospital
